The Outreach Commission focuses on 3 main areas:
- The missional work of the church in our surrounding community, thus being the church outside of the church to serve the community, which is founded on Matthew 25:37-40 that says, “And the people asked, “Lord when did we see You… Hungry… Thirsty… A stranger… Naked… Sick… In prison… And minister to you?” Jesus replied, “I assure you, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me.” Being Christ’s hands and feet to spread the love of Christ through random acts of kindness.
Current projects include the Monthly Meals packs distributed to the Waterfall Clinic for the general patients as well as a Weekly Feeding Scheme to the HIV/AIDS patients receiving their ARV treatment. We will soon be starting our annual winter drive, collecting warm clothing and blankets for distribution to the clinic and other opportunities as we become aware of needs in the community.
- Empowerment (economic or otherwise) of the community – Give a man bread and he eats for a day, teach him to plant maize and he eats for a life-time. Opportunities are being investigated so keep watching this space!
- Financially supporting other organisations in their mission work, that we know promote the Gospel and/or do crisis or relief work through the setting aside of a 10th of our income received. In this way we are able to reach far more people than we would be if we were trying to emulate this work ourselves.
